Waratah Australis sits on the southern edge of the small village of Batlow, located in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. Neighbouring towns areTumbarumba,Tumut, and Adelong.
The business is primarily a working Waratah breeding Farm, improving and selecting varieties for the Horticultural market. The farm was established in 2005, relocating from the Blue Mountains. The site was chosen for its deep well drained soils, good rainfall, cold climate and proximity to markets. The business is owned by Brian Fitzpatrick and his family, and is managed and operated by Brian. The farm is situated on 10 hectares comprising forests, wetland and the Little Gilmore creek.
We pride ourselves in being at the cutting edge of Waratah development in Australia, a result of over 20 years dedicated breeding by Brian. This resulted in the release of the 'Wild Brumby Range', several years ago, and now there are many more new varieties being tested and trialled around the country for their horticultural merit, prior to any selection for commercialisation.
Our Current Range: Wild Brumby Waratahs are a range of 5 Waratah colours released in 2007. The range includes 'Georgie Girl', 'Digger', 'Mallee Boy', 'Snow Maiden' and 'Sugar Plum'.
Other seasonal flowers Waratah Australis produce include Pineapple Lillies, English Lavender, Paeony Roses, Protea, Leucadendron and Hydrangea.
